ON-CALL ROTAS
On-call rotas are written in 3-month blocks. Our current trainee rota coordinators are Dr David Agombar (2nd and 3rd on-call rotas) and Dr Tim Walker (1st and obstetric on-call rotas).

Dr Tim Walker Timothy.Walker@nbt.nhs.uk

IMPORTANT: emailing the above rota coordinator with your leave requests DOES NOT constitute 'booking leave' - this MUST be done on CLWRota - the secretaries can set you up with a CLWRota profile for NBT and once this is done you can request leave at ANY TIME in advance. Email AnaestheticSecretaries-NBT@nbt.nhs.uk

You will be contacted at least 8 weeks before the start of the rota and asked to submit your requests. You will be asked to indicate:
-
Not-on-call requests. Make sure you include planned / requested days for AL or SL
-
Your start and stop date (if you know)
-
If LTFT: what % FT and which days you would like to work. We will do our best to accommodate your requested fixed day(s) off, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Please note that this is NOT a leave booking system! This is to ensure that you don’t end up with on-calls to swap out of when you were hoping to be away.

The on-call rota writer will aim to have a draft rota published 7 weeks before starting and a substantive one 6 weeks before. This is much easier if they don’t have to chase people - please be responsive to their requests!

If the published rota says ?AL this does not mean it has been granted.
If approved, you will have received an email and CLW will be updated to reflect this. If not, this will revert to an allocated theatre day.

All on-call shifts (LDs or Ns) are 12 hours and 30 mins (to allow for handover). The start and finish times may vary depending on whether you are working in Brunel Theatres / Obs / ICU. After the rota has been published, swapping on calls is usually fine if permitted hours are not breached in a given time frame. Please make sure you’ve told the secretaries and David, and make sure CLW is up to date.

Although you cannot move your zero hours/regulatory rest day because they are specifically allocated to keep your hours compliant, you are welcome to ask the rota coordinator if you may move one of your off days WITHIN the same week.

All rotas are new contract-compliant. Exception reporting can be done via Allocate, and the Guardian for Safe Working is Lucy Kirkham, one of our Consultant Anaesthetists (Lucy.Kirkham2@nbt.nhs.uk)
